Out of Time and Space Astrology
July 2009 Cancer
By Quan Tracy Cherry
(If you know your Ascendant read that information to ascertain how to approach the upcoming year. If
you know your Moon sign read that information to ascertain how to determine your subconscious habits
or attachments to the past may be interfering with your ability to enjoy the present moment.)
Writer’s Note: I have organized this column by element. Aquarius, Gemini, Libra are air signs. Pisces, Cancer, Scorpio, water; Aries, Leo, Sagittarius, fire; Taurus, Virgo, Capricorn, earth. Read your complimentary sign within your own element. During Aquarius time of year, we are inspired to break with routines. I am doing this simply through this reorganization.
Author’s Disclaimer: If I’ve heavier of late, it’s just the sign of the times — these be times to wake up and recognize your “environmental imprints” (period) A blog to come (whatever that really is or what form it takes).

All kinds of liquids. Maybe you need to stay away from the Kool Aid.
Cancer: I just like to write, don’t like to edit. So much for the streams of consciousness, not too much for the banks of said streams. Got to get some true perspective, learning to love the editing nearly as much as the writing, mainly because I’ve got so much to say. Like last month, those proverbial teaching moments…I wrote, teaching moment. Can you really teach in a moment? Well, you can, may and will, if, and only if, you’ve been reading Out of Time and Space Astrology. In the next six weeks, your past starts to seeks its past, call it the “origin of the origins.” Yours is a powerful sign that due to this patriarchal world sometimes does not want to acknowledge its strength (sometimes you forget how strong you are). Be that one cell amoeba looking for another. Love and sex may be interchangeable until July 16 once Mars (sex, self-actualization) enters Gemini, mutable air sign running your 12th state of “house of self-absorbed monkeys, addicted to their womb experience.” Get beyond your past. You are so, so much, much better than from where you’ve come. You are made from your ancestors, you are not your ancestors.
Scorpio: Even my skin is suspicious. My outer boundaries search for where you are going to abandon me as you’ve goaded me climbing that tree you’ve goaded me into climbing. But sometimes when you touch my skin with an open intention of a road that not guiltily paving its way to hell, I may even begin to tell myself, I love you. Cancer time of year holds another compatible water sign, you won’t tell anyone, but you secretly like the warm and the fuzzy. Whether it’s held against your skin or not. Understand that in order to be real, you have some difficult lessons to learn. The lessening of emotional attachments, unless your parents were practicing Buddhists, is not Western, Christian or given to the water signs. Let your skin be your guide; realize how to separate out good love from “passing” love. Go on your own philosophical pilgrimage, you won’t be disappointed because, if the religion is worth anything it will teach through example how this moment is only one you actually can possess. And, possession seeks after you, as much as you seek to possess. Once you have, you cease desiring, chasing, controlling and running…roughshod.
Pisces: I‘ve coined a description for you less than introspective fish, “hyper-irrational.” The water element (shared with Cancer & Scorpio) is already feeling and value-oriented (how else can you explain the ‘compassionate conservatism’ of the last 8 years?) George W. Bush (Cancer) had excellent handlers. And, some ancestor does the same for you. Whether you recognize these “spirit folk” matters not, what needs to be recognized is your source of hyper-irrationality. And, again, that requires a honest introspection, which means retreat from the daily grind. Sometimes, you got to behave as an untouched coffee bean, that is, virginal. Use your ebbs and flows to come to a real understanding of what you need from an emotional viewpoint. Once you realize that not everyone has the same urgency for completion of their karma…it is quite a lesson moving from narcissist to universal server, isn’t it? Or have you decided to stay in the narcissist mode? You may do and/or think this way until Leo begins on or around July 22...after all, Leo is the sign of begetting narcissism, but, in the interests of universal balance, you must serve your family, tribe and community, from the ground up, that is, being in the world and cautiously of it. Read Leo.
Your soul is aching, are you good with your past?
Leo: Act out of character, read Pisces. Through paying homage to my legal training, in the interest of full disclosure, I think your sign is guilty until proven innocent. Guilty of narcissism. If you did not know, Marie Antoinette was a solar Scorpio, Louis XIV, a Leo, well at least a very early Virgo, depending on what time of day he was born. How constructive was their relationship? Letting them eat cake spoke to her divine and queenly indifference. The king was to instruct and remind her of the heart? Scorpio is supposed to know better, after all, it follows Leo, as the next fixed sign (fixed signs fall in the middle of each season, Taurus and Aquarius are the others, stubbornly adhering to body and mind, respectively.) There is the inherited guilt. I have no intention to shame you. But, I would like for you to realize how you come across. Sometimes it is good work for you to play to others’ expectations (that is, when they are within reach). However, when you do no acknowledge your dark side, you begin to simmer with all kinds of resentments and passive-aggressive behaviors as if you were born in March (Pisces), which you should read. You see, that mutable sign centers on the renunciation of ego and control, while you were born to learn self-control and focus. This is your “Pisces” time of year. Where you do you yearn for redemption?
Sagittarius: You are on the precipice of having your aggressive impulses demonstrated to those you might not want to know you feel this way. Use that clown-like energy to underscore your basically happy-go-lucky demeanor. It’s all about getting more flies with honey than vinegar (but, who wants to attract more flies, oh, that’s bees, my bad.) Whatever insect that statement refers to, know this: You are whom you attract. Like attracts like. Even more, you are definitely those who stick around. Be analytical regarding those you “must” be in your life. If they’re a bit too eager, take a step back. Look any and all gift horses in the mouth to check their dental work. Life is ready to take quite a magical turn, but you must be practical how to make some of your baggage disappear. For good. Travel light. Stay a tad bit foolish.
Aries: Is the heterosexual the newly confused being? Marriage, a Vegas or abandoned tradition, is threatened. After the number of white male politicians and their known peccadilloes, what’s a hard dick or wet pussy to do? Where to cum? To whom to turn? How to save for an uncertain future? Consciousness through action makes you oh, so, very, very attractive. Regard all relationships as worthy of legal equality. Eagles must protect nests that may not be their own. In other words, do not do anything you would not want done to you. Learn and support something or someone that does not resemble your way of life. As the sign that starts spring, learn your spirit enough to accommodate yourself first. In this way, you know how to have a beginning point in all of your relationships. Sure, others can, may or will balk, but to not follow your spirit first lands you at ground zero. Depression, suppression, repression and oppression move you into lubricating the extremes that ground zero demands. Hence the extremely unequal state of matrimony that exist in the grand ol’ U.S. of A. I write this on the 40th anniversary of the Stonewall Riots, without pioneering straight allies (similar to Jewish and white allies during the civil rights movement), change moves imperceptibly. Try a little moderation, it can feel like tenderness.
ASTROLOGY FEATURE
Water and earth makes beautiful flowers.
Virgo: Turning friends into family make your day. Like Clint Eastwood and his traveling monkey, you need to recognize which animals travel with you. Sure, it can be your literal domesticated feline or pup. However, I like to see myself as metaphysical. Research the concept of “totem animals.” Many Native American tribes believe that everyone has an animal companion. The zodiac means “circle of animals.” So, your symbol is one of the human ones, and you are aware of how confused, splintered off we human are, right? It makes it even more imperative that you locate your hive, lair or herd. Then, you can locate your friends who stand up and heal your early childhood wounds. Imagine how different Michael Jackson’s life (Virgo) would have been had he made friends, not only of his own age but outside his family, no offense, Janet. (Not to mention two abusive fathers, Joseph and Jehovah.) May I suggest at least looking into the symbolism of the turtle or heron? Ted Andrews has written a couple of excellent texts on the subject of animal symbolism.
Capricorn: You are reaching a peak in understanding your higher beliefs and deeper values. Is it any wonder that we want our beliefs to be elevated (higher) and our values to be less than what is on the surface (deeper)? To be superficial and of lower character, no way, you say. Except whenever you only focus on the third dimension and what can be gleaned through your five senses, you exhibit the very behavior you judge. End your scoffing. Here on the wheel of karma, like it or not, your higher self sets up certain tests. Some are major, many are minor. At present, taskmaster Saturn prepares an exam of the moderately major variety. It hinges on what philosophies you have for the long term. What are your timeless truths? What are you going to do on less? How can you shoulder the burdens with everyone needing more? How do you lose your trading favors behavior for something more open and truly generous without giving away the proverbial store? Do you know how to operate in the world without having hidden agendas? It is these lean and uncertain times that character is truly tested and demonstrated. Exam ends on Oct. 29 once the tester, Saturn, moves into Libra.
Taurus: Y’all don’t recognize the need to transform until death, and then it‘s too late. Your mate can pack boxes in front of in order to move away from you…and you do not see. It is a tragic child of Venus who doesn’t recognize all of the little things that goes into the making of healthy connections. It cannot be a quiet resistance to outside input. It cannot be a beautiful sensuous pairing that everyone lauds as the ‘best…’ you fill in the blank. You are learning to be steady, loyal and persistent. You are not learning how to be demanding, dogmatic and narcissistic. There can be a materialist within you, always counting the cost, not in emotional terms, you’re able to let others do that, in financial terms. You can get on with a new business of living, and making yourself and those around you joyous and happy. But this very act requires something of you that no money can buy, self-acceptance and self-esteem based on what you’ve accomplished.
A passionate mind alters atmospheres.
Libra: By the light of the Full Moon (July 7) you feel pulled in four different directions. Know this, Full Moon actually last 5 days, two before, the day of and two days afterwards. While astrology and science seek precision of measurements (and computers aid in this pursuit very well), the Moon (and its corresponding sign of Cancer) thwarts such exactitude. The lunar energies created the conscious recognition of the “warm and fuzzy.” And, when one of your scales takes no delight in the dreamy nature of the reflected light, you represent a hollow apparatus, one that looks good but has no true function. Furthermore, you are entirely more than the sum of your parts, particularly those projected parts. Those who help you achieve balance tell you what you need, not want, to hear. However, in the clear sense of equilibrium, there must be some solar clarity mixed with the lunar intuitive blur to create good warm and fuzzy. After all, the sun is warm, the moon is fuzzy. Get stuck in either polarity at your peril.
Aquarius: Zeus saw Ganymede. Next thing you know this young hot cupbearer is pouring his “water” out to the gods. Some accounts state that there was a female counterpart that represented a young version of his wife Juno. Scheeh, by the time we get to the 11th sign (read: almost done) the genitals are not that big of a deal, neither is gender assignment or roles. And, sexuality falls comfortably in the bell curve. Point? Zeus/Jupiter will be in your sign until the end of the year. For whom does your cup drip? Are you good to the last drop? Perfection, precision and prescient thought reigns in as your raison d’etre for the beginning of summer. A recommitment to your priorities and attracting some inspirational mentors are advised. You wouldn’t want to be known simply for how you look, correct? There’s a brain included as well, no? After July 16, warrior Mars heats up your area of good times, joy, self-actualization and showing off. If you cannot get your life jumpstarted after this date, then you haven’t wanted to locate your Zeus (inner or outer). Keeping your cup from running over is unwise. Share your bounty, that’ll attract those benefactors faster than Jove absconding with Ganymede.
Gemini: Like BC and AD, only on a much smaller scale, July divides into before July 16 and after July 16. For the last seven weeks, you’ve been listless, subservient and biding your time. Halt! This is still happening. It is not until July 16 that your mind races with the awareness of new possibilities, new hurdles and lots and lots of energy. Frame Memorial Day until July 16 as karmic payback, you know, having to do what you really don’t want to do, or being at the tail end of someone else’s tale. It has been one drawing of the short straw after another. Yet, hang in Snoopy, the doors open after July 16. You get to write your own script. Keep the script loose, you’ll need your improvisational skills learned over the past couple of months. But, courage wins the day. Pluckiness rules! Wear red or carry red stones, anything to remind you how to place yourself back into your life. Now, patience may leave you. Although you have enough reserve karma to weather any unfortunate mishaps…unless you have not been offering help without any thought of return, then, I do not know how assertive you ought to be…but I can say we will respond in direct proportion to your true intentions.
